TRUST & METHOD

Editorial Method

How PergolaSpec researches, compares, updates and monetizes pergola buyer guides.

Research-based specifications · Edited by Truong Nguyen · Updated

Before buying: measure the real slab/deck, verify permit and wind/snow requirements locally, and confirm current model specifications with the manufacturer. PergolaSpec has not physically tested every product listed.

Named accountability

Truong Nguyen is the owner and named editor responsible for source selection, page updates, disclosures and corrections. This is an editorial role—not a claim of engineering, contracting or code-enforcement credentials.

What we evaluate

We compare current manufacturer documentation for exact configuration, dimensions, anchoring, materials, controls, drainage, warranty and operating limitations. We favor model-specific evidence over generic category claims and display “not publicly documented” when a source does not answer the question.

Source hierarchy

  1. Current exact-model manual, engineering report or warranty.
  2. Current exact-product manufacturer page.
  3. Manufacturer family-level FAQ, clearly labeled as broader than one configuration.
  4. Retail listings only for price and availability snapshots—not structural claims.

What we do not claim

We do not imply hands-on testing where none occurred, convert marketing dimensions into structural capacity, treat a family-level wind claim as a site design, or replace local permit, engineering, electrical or installer review.

Updates and correction policy

Pages show a checked or updated date. To report an error, email [email protected] with the page URL, the disputed statement and a primary source. We review evidence, correct material inaccuracies in the page, update its review date and describe meaningful changes in the page’s source note where useful.

Commercial independence

Affiliate availability does not determine inclusion or conclusions. Tracked links are marked and disclosed. A merchant without a verified tracking agreement can remain a neutral citation, but it is not rendered as a commercial CTA.
