PERGOLA BUYER GUIDE

Pergola Kit Cost & Prices by Material (2026)

Compare pergola kit prices by material and roof type, then add freight, slab or footings, labor, electrical work, permits, drainage, accessories and contingency.

Research-based specifications · Edited by Truong Nguyen · Updated

Before buying: measure the real slab/deck, verify permit and wind/snow requirements locally, and confirm current model specifications with the manufacturer. PergolaSpec has not physically tested every product listed.

The checkout price is not the project price. The decision number is kit + delivery + verified load path + assembly + electrical + permits/engineering + drainage/accessories + contingency.

Compare pergola kit cost by material and roof system

Material labels do not create a reliable price-per-square-foot average. Wood kits can shift cost into finishing and maintenance; aluminum kits can shift it into freight, anchors and accessories; motorized louvered systems add controls, electrical work and commissioning. Compare the exact SKU, outside dimensions, roof behavior, finish, published load documents, freight and included hardware before treating two kit prices as equivalent.

The eight-line quote sheet

05

Electrical work

06

Permits and engineering

Planning check, HOA, permit fee, drawings, calculations, revisions and inspections.

07

Drainage and accessories

Downspout discharge, splash control, screens, trim, fans, shades and service-access provisions.

08

Contingency

A visible reserve for unknown slab/soil conditions, access changes and scope exclusions—not a hidden rounding error.

A worked planning scenario—not a market average

The calculator starts with this neutral scope so every line is visible. Replace every number with a current written quote:

Kit / roof system$9,000Freight$800
Foundation / anchors$1,800Assembly labor$3,000
Electrical$900Permit / engineering$600
Drainage / accessories$1,200Subtotal$17,300
10% contingency$1,730Planning total$19,030

Do not use $19,030 as a benchmark. It is an arithmetic demonstration. A stocked manual kit on verified concrete and a custom motorized attached structure do not belong in the same “average cost.”

Resolve foundation scope before comparing kits

Send the same scope to every seller

  1. State exact outside dimensions, roof type, layout and accessories.
  2. Attach site photos and identify slab, deck, soil, wall and access conditions.
  3. Ask the seller to mark all eight lines included, optional, owner-supplied or excluded.
  4. Require exact-model wind/snow and anchor documents before paying a non-refundable amount.
  5. Record quote date, validity, lead time, deposit, cancellation, warranty owner and service path.

Research basis and limits

Price examples above link to current manufacturer pages and are checked on the displayed date. PergolaSpec has not obtained a site-specific contractor quote for your property and does not estimate local permit, concrete, electrical or labor rates.
